The UK GxFF team would like to announce that Denise 2E0SLO will take on the new role of events organizer. Denise will work with the GxFF team to arrange and encourage more events to take place across the UK going forward.

Team GxFF
*ANNOUNCEMENT from Team GxFF*
After careful consideration, I (M0YMA) have decided that now, as we restart operations, is the appropriate time for a refresh of Team GxFF.
I am pleased to announce that Adrian M0PAI will take over as GxFF Coordinator, with immediate effect. Carl 2E0HPI will continue as GxFF Log Manager.
I thank them both for their support over the past number of years.
I will be around to support them as required, but Adie should be the first point of contact for all GxFF matters. I remain, of course, the WWFF Logsearch Admin.
Activity Post-Lockdown
The Covid rules across the UK provide a confusing mish-mash of restrictions:
- On Wednesday 2nd December, the current English national-lockdown comes to an end, being replaced by a three-Tier system, which will last until (at least February).
- In Wales, new restrictions (which have not yet been finalised) will come into force from Friday, 4 December.
- Scots now find themselves in Level 4 restrictions, which will remain in place for three weeks.
- Northern Ireland has entered a new circuit breaker, which will cover the two-week period from November 27 until December 11
Team GxFF have considered the available information and have decided that decisions whether to perform an activity should be left to the judgement of the activator, with due consideration to the rules in force at their home and at the target reference, and in particular with regards any travel restrictions in place.
Team GxFF reiterate that this is not an encouragement to undertake any activity, and accept no liability for any consequences of any decision by an activator to perform an activation.
We will, of course, keep monitoring any changes in the Rules…
Regional Identifiers in Logs
All GxFF operators, especially those who are operating outside of their “home” nation, are reminded to include the correct callsign data in their logs:
- STATION_CALL = The Callsign Used
- OPERATOR = Their Home Callsign
For example:
- M0YMA operates as MW0YMA/P while activating a Welsh (GWFF) reference:
- STATION_CALL = MW0YMA/P
- OPERATOR = M0YMA (Homecall with no regional modifier)
- M0YMA operates as MM0YMA/P while activating a Scottish (GMFF) reference:
- STATION_CALL = MM0YMA/P
- OPERATOR = M0YMA (Homecall with no regional modifier)
- M0YMA operates the GxFF Club call as GX4FF/P while activating an English (GFF) reference:
- STATION_CALL = GX4FF/P
- OPERATOR = M0YMA (homecall with no regional modifier)
- GI0AZA operates as G0AZA/P while activating an English (GFF) reference:
- STATION_CALL = G0AZA/P
- OPERATOR = GI0AZA (HomeCall with usual GI regional modifier)
Thanks

GxFF Awards
It is with great pleasure that we announce the re-starting of the GxFF awards program, and the appointment of Adrian M0PAI as the Award Manager.
The new awards will be issued in steps of 11, and will be available to all via WWFF Logsearch – including those who received awards from the previous series.
GFF Directory Update – April 2017
New References
Eleven new references (GFF-0383 to GFF-0393 inclusive) have been added to the GFF Directory…
- eight of these are in Norfolk, requested by Andy G7SQW
- three are in the Northern Pennines, requested by Carl 2E0HPI
Several of these have either already been activated, or imminent activations have been announced.
GFF – Norfolk
As part of a planned update to the entire GxFF Directory, and linked to the assessment of the new entries (see above), all entries within the County of Norfolk now have Region and Worked All Britain square information provided.
The Region information uses the NUTS1 regions (EE representing Eastern England) and the County or Unitary Authority – so for Norfolk, all entries are tagged as EE-No.
In turn, all other references will be updated in a similar manner.
GWFF references
The GWFF Directory has been updated, in particular to add Worked All Britain square information, but to also correct spellings of some references.
Hello world!
Welcome to GxFF on the web.
This site will bring news and activities of the World Flora and Fauna Program in the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland and the British Overseas Territories.
